Introducing Solids at Pomegranate in San Anselmo www.pomcenter.com October 17, 2016

This is a 1.5 hour class designed for parents and/or caregivers. Each family and each baby is unique so there is no one exact right approach for introducing solids to your baby. In this class we will discuss:

  • the latest research into the best first foods for babies as well as the best time to start first foods
  • approaches to feeding such as Baby Led Weening and also spoon feeding
  • basic outline of how to begin step-by-step for first foods
  • what the latest research says about food allergies and how that relates to first foods

Other Workshops I teach:

Nutrition for Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

I love teaching this class! Often when women find out they are pregnant, they are told many things to avoid (Sushi, alcohol, etc.) Rarely do we get information about the true nutritional requirements of pregnancy and breastfeeding women. In traditional cultures women were fed specific foods for fertility and through pregnancy and breastfeeding to support the optimal health of the baby. In this workshop we discuss some of these traditional foods as well as what the latest research shows us about our need for key nutrients/foods. Some of the information can be surprising to many but it’s always a fun discussion.

Feeding your toddler in private settings for individuals or small groups

Toddlers can be a challenging bunch to feed! In this class we talk about:

  • the nutritional requirements of toddlers and ways to meet those needs
  • approaches to dealing with “picky” eaters and how to get all toddlers to try different foods
  • approaches for dealing with family meal times / setting the food culture in your house
  • great real food snacks for kids and convenience foods that should be avoided
  • foods and supplements to boost immunity
